Description

Doon Major is a traditional Swede variety that is commonly used in New Zealand due to its consistent performance. A good winter forage crop for most stock types; sheep, cattle and deer. It is a palatable Brassica feed source, easily digestible with a high content of water-soluble carbohydrates. Doon Major is a cultivar that is cold tolerant, making it a good choice for regions like Southland. Also drought-resistant, it is able to grow well in a range of locations and soil types. The bulb stands clear of the ground and has purple skin.
