Description
Hunter Forage brassica is a very fast-growing leafy turnip. Specifically bred as a livestock forage feed, it develops very little root. Compared to other brassica feeds, Hunter is best suited to autumn or summer grazing rather than winter. Hunter cultivar reaches maturity very quickly within 42 – 56 days (6 – 8 weeks) following sowing. It is a very good finishing species, producing a forage with a high protein content that is very palatable resulting in quick stock weight gains. A key feature of Hunter is its fast recovery from grazing, continuing to yield in the 2nd, 3rd and potentially 4th re-growth cycle. Hunter has a potential yield of 10-12 tonnes of DM per hectare.
