Description
Rival Turnip is an early maturing summer cultivar. A distinctive feature is its high leaf production, making it a great high energy, high protein, low fibre feed over the summer months (Jan – Feb) when pasture growth is slow and the quality is generally declining. Rival is a good option to be included in pasture renovation programs in areas that are prone to summer dry, helping to provide a balanced diet in summer when fed with pasture.
While it can be susceptible to club root, it has been bred for improved turnip mosaic virus tolerance. It has a tankard bulb, with white flesh and purple skin. A high proportion of the bulb sits above the ground and combined with its tankard shape it is well utilised.
