At Wesco Seeds
Customers are our partners. We aim to match your land with the right seed that will perform consistently – we pride ourselves on the longevity of our permanent pasture recommendations.
We are a family-based business that lives and breathes farming. In 1937, we purchased our first family property for growing seed crops in North Canterbury. Four generations and 86 years later in 2023, we are still immersed in the industry.
Wesco Seeds are grown and purchased in New Zealand for the local conditions, also some smaller lines are imported, we have our own seed cleaning machine and 5 seed mixers. Today we are a trading, distributing, and marketing business, connecting with other large seed dressing operations throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and America.
Timeline
Seed Cleaning
Our seed range has been carefully selected and supported by experienced agronomists for New Zealand’s farming systems. Alongside our own New Zealand seed lines, we also have relationships with other seed producers. Our processing facility in Rangiora, North Canterbury, specialises in seed cleaning - a vital component to our business, ensuring our seed is of the utmost purity, with high germination levels to meet the industry standard. Current machines used are a Delta 106 machine, clipper and a gravity table for small seeds.
Seed Treatments
Wesco seeds offers several different treatment options, the main users being our Dynastrike and Goldstrike treatments, also we have biological and seaweed options.
We have different seed mixers set up for different treatments so there is no contamination.
